Mindfulness, in the simplest of terms, is the cultivation of presence and awareness within an individual. On a deeper level, it is the practice of discovering an intimate relationship with Self in the present moment and utilizing the tools learned through that discovery to gain an understanding of how and why we operate the way we do. With awareness comes choice and the ability to make conscious decisions to move in the direction that best serves us and those around us. While the origins of Mindfulness sit firmly in Buddhism, it is increasingly taught in a secular form and Mindfulness has found its way into schools, professional sports, and corporations around the globe.
Mindfulness can help to reduce stress, anxiety, conflict, and increase resilience and emotional intelligence, while improving communication in the workplace. The simple practices of mindfulness that will be taught each week will give employees at Force Brands a new set of tools to access in stressful situations of conflict, overwhelm, or burnout. When utilized will lead to a calmer and more connected workforce.
Weekly Live Meditations For Your Team
Week One:
Reconnecting Body Scan
A conscious scan of the body with awareness focused on physical and emotional experiences in the present moment . This exercise allows participants to practice refocusing their thoughts and redirecting towards the physical body when the mind wanders. A quick and easy intro to mindfulness that can be done at any time.
Week Two:
Mindful Breathing
Taken from Anapanasati Sutra on mindful breathing, this is a truncated version that explores the first two of four sets of breathing exercises, focused on the body and feelings. These two breathing exercises allow participants to explore their breath as a method of finding calm and connecting with the current emotional experience without judgement.
Week Three:
Loving Kindness
Loving Kindness, also referred to as Metta Meditation, is a practice of cultivating understanding, love, and compassion by looking deeply first for ourselves, then for others. Understanding our connectedness and bringing forth a more compassionate and healing heart into the world.
Week Four:
Mindful Appreciation
Taken from the Five Mindfulness Trainings, the noted guidelines for how to live our daily lives in a way that nourishes happiness and transforms ill-being, we explore the first two of these; a reverence for life and true happiness. Through this exploration we begin to cultivate a mindful appreciation for the good within our lives.
Week Five:
Emotional Awareness (RAIN)
This meditation is crafted to guide us through an understanding of how to tap into emotional experiences and turn off our thinking brain and allow for us to connect with experience. Through recognizing, allowing, investigating, and nurturing the emotional experience we begin to find a release from its hold and move freely away from it.
Week Six:
Body and Breath
A connection with the body and breath is created through revisiting the body scan and mindful breathing techniques. This meditation focuses on utilizing the breath and scan as a method to assess our needs in the present moment and then meet them. A discovery of pain and then relief through stretching and movement based exercises that can all be done while seated.
Week Seven:
5 Senses Exploration
A quick mindful exploration of the five senses to help participants ground themselves in the present moment and explore the world of sensations available to them. This is an excellent grounding technique that can be practiced in moments of heightened stress or overwhelm at work.
Week Eight:
Self Compassion & Care
Exploring the final three guidelines from the Five Mindfulness Trainings, this meditation allows for an accessing of the feelings of true love, loving speech and deep listening, and nourishment and healing. Specifically directed towards Self, this meditation allows for participants to cultivate a deeper and more compassionate relationship with themselves.
